You take control of your treatment - No surgery
State of the Art Treatment - Successful with all ages
What will the Pneumex Scoliosis Program do for you?
We offer a viable alternative to bracing and surgery. The Pneumex Scoliosis Program gives you the tools to retrain the body to maintain the correction.

Does the Treatment hurt?
No, some muscle soreness is to be expected in the beginning.

Is the Scoliosis Program covered by Insurance? Yes, most insurance companies cover the Pneu-Back treatment for Scoliosis.

How long does the treatment take? Treatment generally lasts from 6-20 weeks, but varies from patient to patient depending on age and severity of curve.

Will the program work if you are older? Patients well into their 80"s have shown improvement in curves.

Will the curve return? The curve should not return providing the prescribed home exercises are continued for the period recommended by the provider.

How does the Pneumex Scoliosis Program work?

Assessment and Pneu-MAP
You will stand in front of a MAP (a posture measuring device). The clinician will make some markings on your back where the spine deviates from norm and enter those co-ordinates into the software to help identify the extent of your curve. Studies have shown that the MAP produces a representation of the scoliosis curve that is comparable to x-rays.

Stretching
You will do several stretches on a special stretching machine.  This machine is used to increase the flexibility of scoliosis patients. Often times we find that patients have tighter muscles on one side than the other. By using specialized machinery with specific stretches we are able to quickly and effectively target these areas.

Vibration
The vibration is used to increase blood flow and relax muscles. When you use this with traction we are able to stretch muscles and connective tissue with no resistance or muscle co-contractions. During this process we will gently mobilize the spine is to restore flexibility and correct spinal curves. This is a pain free process.
Strengthening vibration exercises
On the vibration platform you will do a series of mobilization and strengthening exercises to maximize straightening of the curve. These exercises are individually tailored specifically to your needs.

Unweighting
After flexibility and correction is made, it becomes important to strengthen the muscles that support the spine. This is done by having you do specific strengthening exercises unweighted. By doing this we are able to strengthen muscles without putting stress on the spine or joints.

Unweighted Pneu-Back Chair
The unweighted chair further allows us to fine tune the muscles groups in the back where we need to hold the correction. By isolating very specific muscles groups we can target weaker muscle areas. When strengthened, these muscles groups hold the correction.

Home stretching
Home exercises are used to ensure long term correction. They build on what was done initially, in the comfort of your home and are specific to your needs.
